Such has been Stephen Curry’s dominance in his 14 seasons in the NBA, that his 3-point records seem impossible to break, no matter the immense talent that’s present in the league.
The Golden State Warriors sharpshooter will surely go down as one of the greatest players to have laced up to play the sport when he calls time on his decorated career.
In addition to his four NBA championships, Curry has also set and broken a slew of records in the NBA, especially with his lethal 3-point shooting that’s revolutionized the way hoops are played across the world.
After surpassing Ray Allen as the leading 3-point scorer in league history, the two-time MVP will suit up for the Golden State Warriors in his quest for a fifth ring.
Ahead of the upcoming season, here are five 3-point records by Stephen Curry that are impossible to break:
5 3-point records by Stephen Curry that are hard to surpass
#5. Most 3-pointers by an individual in an NBA Finals
Stephen Curry nailed 32 3-pointers in an NBA Finals when the Warriors played the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2021/22, which stretched to a Game 7.
Prior to the feat, it was Danny Green who held the record with 27 points from beyond the arc in 2012-23 when he was part of the San Antonio Spurs. Curry fell one downtown shot short in the 2022 NBA Finals, finishing with 31 threes to his name in the Finals against the Boston Celtics.
#4. Most games with 10+ 3-pointers
Over the course of his illustrious career, Curry has had no issues taking a shot from 3-point land and holds the records for most games with 10+ 3-pointers.
Per Statmuse, the 35-year-old has 39 games with double-digit threes and is followed by Damian Lillard (13) and Klay Thompson (12). This marks another seemingly impossible feat to achieve for players, even if they are elite shooters.
#3. 157 consecutive regular season games with a 3-pointer in each of those contests
To shoot a 3-pointer every game looks easy on paper, but trust Curry to make a habit out of it for a whopping 157 contests in a row. Curry set this record when he started that streak in November 2014 and drilled at least one 3-pointer per game all the way to 2016 before going 0-10 against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The only other player to come close to this was Kyle Korver who had a 127-game streak, and it’s worth noting that he was also regarded as one of the best 3-point shooters in the NBA.
#2. Stephen Curry has the most 3-pointers in a single regular season
In what was a historic 2015-16 campaign for the Warriors where they went 73-9 in the regular season, Stephen Curry holds the distinction for sinking 402 threes — a record that might never be broken.
The only player close to the record, but still miles away from surpassing it is James Harden with 378 to his name during the 2018-19 season. In yet another example of his dominance, Curry made 354 threes in the 2021-22 season.
#1. Stephen Curry is the reigning 3-point leader in the NBA
With 3,390 three-pointers in the NBA, Stephen Curry is the undisputed leader from beyond the arc. He surpassed Ray Allen’s record in December 2021 in front of a sellout crowd at the Madison Square Garden and is still going strong.
The only other players active in the league and find themselves in the top 10 are Harden (2,754), Lillard (2,387), and LeBron James (2,261). Considering his run, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if he hits the 4,000 mark in the next couple of years.
