Knicks Player Unveils the Key to Steph Curry’s Unstoppable Performance

In an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area, New York Knicks guard Miles McBride spoke on what makes Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry so difficult to defend.

“The thing with Steph is – one, he’s strong. Way stronger than people think,” McBride said. “You can’t knock him off balance. Like that’s obviously a part of the reason he’s such a great shooter.”

On the inability to show Curry anything he isn’t prepared for, McBride said, “I think he’s also just seen every possible type of defense. So, when I was guarding him, I could just see him reading how I’m guarding him, so he already knows how the rest of the defense is guarding him or vice versa. It’s the unknown – that freedom is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.”

When opposing defenders talk about Curry, they often cite his strength and conditioning before they even mention his shooting. This is very telling, because while Curry is the greatest shooter the sport has ever seen, it’s his physicality that separates him into a different tier. Able to take contact while also staying in constant motion, Curry is unaffected by the intense defense he faces every single game.

A solid defender, even McBride knows there is no answer for Curry’s offensive greatness. Ready for every defense, Curry cannot be stopped.
