The annual NBA general manager survey has been released, and the Golden State Warriors received zero championship votes. After a disappointing season that followed their 2022 title run, the Warriors are not expected by NBA general managers to regain their spot atop the league, which is something Steve Kerr was asked about.
“I don’t care,” Kerr said with a laugh. “Makes no difference. It never did anything for me when people picked us. Doesn’t do anything for me that they don’t, so it’s just stuff – interesting stuff for fans to read, but nothing helpful or harmful for us. Definitely not any bulletin board material. Not posting that on the locker room wall… I don’t think anybody cares.”
After years of being the heavy favorites, the Warriors are no longer in that category. This is similar to how they were viewed prior to their 2022 championship, so Golden State will have to again prove that they still have what it takes to compete at the highest level.
It was not a great regular season or postseason for the Warriors last year, so it makes sense why they don’t have any championship hype. With the Denver Nuggets still favored in the Western Conference, and the Eastern Conference containing some serious firepower, Golden State is being overlooked, but it’s not something they’re worried about.
