Last summer, league executives decided on a format they believe in: the NBA Season Tournament will be a 30-team, 67-game NBA Cup tournament.
Different formats. Different awards. Different times of the year. A single elimination tournament and 30-team playoffs.
Curry and Kerr spoke about it

NBA In-Season Tournament Prize
The winning NBA Cup team and players will each earn $500,000. While the players of the winning team will each receive $500,000, the second place winners will receive $200,000. Meanwhile, the losing teams in the semifinals will receive $100,000 , and the losing players in the quarterfinals will receive $50,000 each.
Although many are in agreement with the tournament, the change often faces resistance, and some of the players and coaches are trying to see how it will all work, especially with the schedule as it is.
