The Chicago Bulls ended the dynasty on such a high note, that they’ve created a buzzword out of it. Even Hollywood franchises aspire to have a glorious curtain drop the way the Bulls won the 1998 championship. This time Tom Hardy is suiting up in his dark symbiote persona for a final time. He’s hoping to not only recreate the success of his past two movies but also exceed the box office success. He’s invoking that energy with which Michael Jordan aimed to secure a second three-peat.
Tom Hardy channels Michael Jordan
After much anticipation, the third installment of the Venom franchise is finally in development. Tom Hardy is on the set to play the anti-hero and he had to let everyone know. In a lengthy Instagram post, he expressed his gratitude for the cast and crew behind the blockbuster franchise. This might be equal to his ’98 Bulls team because he invoked a connection to them.
“V3N0M 3 [fire emoji, heart emoji, spade emoji] The Last dance,” he opened the essay in the caption. That is, of course, a reference to Michael Jordan’s popular docuseries, The Last Dance on Netflix.
Some fans speculate if the emojis and The Last Dance have a reference to the title. But it’s likely just alluding to the fact that Venom 3 is largely billed as the third and final installment in the series.
Filming resumed this month after the SAG-AFTRA strike that went on for 118 days ended on November 8. Hardy shared pictures from the set but without his symbiote costume.
While this will be the final Venom movie, fan buzz is that it won’t be the last time we see Hardy as Venom in the expanding Spiderman universe. A different route from Jordan who retired a second time following the ’98 championship. He’d return to the NBA one last time but not with the Bulls. Yet his sixth championship left a lasting impact that resonated in 2020.

Netflix has built an a la carte selection including the Untold series and Bill Russell: The Legend based of The Last Dance fame. It resulted in fallouts between Jordan and others like Scottie Pippen and Isiah Thomas about their portrayal.
