Years after a failed NBA stint, Michael Jordan’s son-in-law is scheduled to make his debut on a different continent

Michael Jordan‘s sons did not have the same level of skill as their father on the basketball court. Both Marcus and Jeffrey pursued basketball only up to college. However, his son-in-law has still not given up on his professional basketball career, as Rakeem Christmas, husband of Jasmine M. Jordan, has now found new horizons to showcase his talent. After taking his skills around the world over the years, Christmas has now found his place in Uruguay.

Journalist Federico Buysan wrote on Twitter, “🏀 Rakeem Christmas is the new foreigner chosen by Bigua and will make his debut this Thursday against Trouville. 🔙 The power forward with a past in the Indiana Pacers in the 2016/17 season, is also the son-in-law of Michael Jordan ▶️ Via @basquetcaliente“.

Rakeem Christmas has signed with Club Biguá de Villa Biarritz, famously known as Bigua, playing for the Uruguayan Basketball League. Christmas is set to make his debut for the team against Club Trouville this Friday.

Rakeem signed a multi-year contract with the Indiana Pacers in 2015. However, his time in the NBA was not long, as he soon found himself out of the league as he was waived by the team in 2017. He was the 36th pick in the 2015 NBA draft and had a lot left in his tank. Thus, he took his talents overseas.

Michael Jordan’s son-in-law did not give up after getting waived
After his time with the Indiana Pacers was over, Rakeem Christmas traveled to numerous places to continue his career in basketball. During his time with the Pacers, Christmas was often playing in the G-League. He played on the main roster for 30 games but was never given a chance to start. Every year since 2017, he has signed a new deal with a new team. This has now taken him to seven different countries in the last seven years.

From Mexico to Puerto Rico to Taiwan, Rakeem has become a basketball globe-trotter and he is still not ready to give up on his basketball dreams. His signing with the Uruguayan team shows that Rakeem is still looking for a chance to showcase his talent and maybe eventually find his way back to the NBA.
