Combined with the overseas revenue gathered over the weekend, the movie’s estimated global revenue is currently sitting at $123.6 million, near to the worldwide profits of another Statham action picture, Mechanic: Resurrection, which made $125.7 million. The Beekeeper, directed by David Ayer, is an opportunity to return to form following the drama of Suicide Squad, which was followed by mixed reviews for his subsequent films, Bright and The Tax Collector.
Adam Clay, a beekeeper in Statham’s The Beekeeper, looks after beehives and repairs land for Mrs. Parker. After Mrs. Parker is duped, Adam, a prior operative, joins The Beekeepers to seek justice against a firm tied to Mrs. Parker’s murder, therefore upholding their purpose of safeguarding their hive.
The film garnered positive reviews, with a 71% acceptance rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a B+ CinemaScore from its first-day viewers. Collider’s Nate Richard complimented the film for being more than the whole of its parts, describing it as one of the wildest mainstream action films to reach the movie theatres in a while.
