Cleveland’s Heartbreaker for Michael Jordan 35 Years Later, 16-Year-Old Prodigy Recreates It

The young athletes on Saint Peters Prep basketball team probably wouldn’t know how many grownups felt watching Michael Jordan play in the 1989 NBA playoffs. But on Thursday, they came pretty close. The team’s 16-year-old star, Richie Rosa unknowingly exuded His Airness with the game-winner. Specifically, he reminded everyone of ‘The Shot.’

When the Cleveland Cavaliers faced off against the pre-championship Chicago Bulls in 1989, the team’s star pulled a cinematic move with seconds left on the clock. He gave the Bulls a 101-100 win in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals before the Cavs home crowd at the Richfield Coliseum in Ohio.

Something like that, Rosa made an 18-foot shot at the buzzer. He successfully sent his team to the NJSIAA Non Public North A finals.
