The first devastating trailer for Jason Statham’s upcoming action film is released

The trailer for Jason Statham’s new movie The Beekeeper has been released.

The film stars Statham as a man working as a beekeeper for an older woman. After she falls victim to online phishing scammers, she dies by suicide.

Statham’s character then fights his way into the neon-drenched offices of the scammers to exact some brutal vengeance before blowing the place up, which attracts the attention of Jeremy Irons’ character.

It’s then revealed that Statham’s character isn’t just a beekeeper in terms of, well, keeping bees. He’s also part of a clandestine above-the-law organisation called The Beekeepers, who want to “protect the hive”, which has something to do with righting wrongs with the systems of the world.

Turns out, the phishing scammers are part of a larger network of money trafficking, involving corruption in the upper echelons of society.

It all comprises the perfect vehicle for Statham to do even more action stuff, which peaks in the trailer with him covering someone in honey and then setting them on fire.

It’s exactly what you’d expect from Statham, the star of The Meg, and David Ayer, the director of the first Suicide Squad movie.

Alongside Statham and Irons, the film stars The Umbrella Academy’s Emmy-Raver Lampman, Starstruck’s Minnie Driver, the Creed trilogy’s Phylicia Rashad and The Hunger Games franchise’s Josh Hutcherson.
