Trade: Steph Curry from the Warriors? Predictions for Wemby’s Spurs

In the Bay Area, it is the unthinkable. Steph Curry is the Golden State Warriors … he’s almost, like, the logo, not unlikely Tim Duncan is in San Antonio.

But Warriors front office is about to face a major decision about keeping the band together, about doing right by Curry, about when to turn the page …

Does Curry really have a shot at winning a fifth NBA championship by staying there? Do the Warriors, who are openly talking of budget concerns, allow themselves to look at him as a “commodity” rather than as an icon?

And what if the Warriors make the improbable call of trading Curry because it’s what he wants?

In that event, the oddsmakers say the Spurs are the betting favorites to land the legend.

According to Bovada’s sportsbook, the Spurs (+650), the Lakers (+800) and the Hornets (+1200) are the three teams most likely to land Curry if the Warriors decide to make their 10-time All-Star available via trade.

Curry plus Victor Wembanyama?

The rumor mill has flirted with the idea of Wemby with Trae Young or Wemby with Chris Paul, but this is … different.

The French sensation, who averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.6 blocks per game as a rookie, would see his numbers – and his learning curve – go through the roof with Curry alongside. …

And Curry, by the way, knows it.

“Wembanyama is 7-foot-4. His skill is crazy. He’s a 2-man trapped in a 7-4 man’s body,” Curry said of Wemby last year, via NBC Sports Bay Area. …

“Genetics and all that stuff is crazy.”

Also “crazy”? Curry and Wembanyama on the same team. But the oddsmakers see it. And Spurs fans would love to as well.
