Dwayne Johnson makes a drastic move as he unfollows everyone amidst WWE return rumors

The on-screen Mark Kerr aka real-life Dwayne Johnson has taken over social media as Maui. The highly hyped-up Disney feature movie, ‘Moana 2’ trailer had a groundbreaking social media debut on Wednesday and fans couldn’t love it more. Their collective proclivity toward him or the franchise or the entire musical adventure feature took it to the height of coming off as the biggest animated trailer launch in Disney history, hitting an all-time high of 178 million views in 24 hours. The prime mover of the &90 million theatrical project, Dawayne Johnson himself, announced the same on an IG post. That said, within just 3 days of that celebration, it seems something is going wrong with DJ’s IG handle. In a shocking move, The Brahma Bull unfollowed every Instagram account.

Megastars like Johnson’s everyday social media activity have constantly been under fans’ scrutiny so it was quite evident that attentive fans wouldn’t miss this turn of affairs. So, is this a strategic move to kickstart anything exciting related to the Bloodline saga or just another casual vagary of the Final Boss ahead of his return? While we can’t smell what’s cooking, The Rock’s social media escapades aren’t anything foreign.

Last year, the reverse happened to him in the wake of a fierce controversy.

The Rock recorded a massive drop in followers last year

Dwayne Johnson might be the apple of the eyes of his wide fan base, but he, too, had his moments of doom. Something similar happened in mid-2023 when the American Tank Division named an entire tank after him. Johnson himself celebrated that rare honor with a ‘salute of respect and gratitude’. But it didn’t sit well with many of his fans who believe it’s not cool to be named after a killing machine. They bashed him brutally online, saying how he could be okay with a weapon of his name prepping to kill thousands of innocents. In this spree of backlash, The Rock lost a chunk of followers on his Instagram and Twitter.

While we didn’t get any counter-reaction from the Great One, he was invited to ride his namesake tank in Texas. How do you see Dwayne Johnson’s cryptic Instagram move on the backdrop of his Moana 2 success? Let us know in the comments.
