An absurd amount of money can be spent on a signed Michael Jordan card.

Michael Jordan is arguably the greatest basketball player in the history of the sport. Off-court and on-court talent, his fame and his game hold up against current and past greats like LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, and more.

Jordan’s impact on the NBA and athletes in general has spanned decades and generations, and he continues to impact the sports landscape to this day.

Jordan is now a businessman, with his hand in a multitude of sports and teams, including a 15-year, $173.8 million deal with the Michigan Wolverines. He is also a minority owner of the Charlotte Hornets, is the namesake of the ever-popular Air Jordan brand, and has a hand in many other money-making endeavors.

Though Jordan’s name is well-known for his investments, basketball fans know him as one of the most dominant athletes in the history of sports. His time spent with the Chicago Bulls can never be forgotten, and was even the subject of a massively popular docuseries, The Last Dance.

Jordan’s era with the Bulls is 30 years in the past, but it’s not easily forgotten — nor should it be. In fact, a card signifying his time with the Bulls recently sold for a record-breaking amount.

According to Goldin, a rare 1-of-1 signed card from Jordan sold for a staggering $2,928,000 at a public auction, making it the highest-earning card from the NBA legend. The 2003 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Michael Jordan Signed Logoman.

CEO and founder of Goldin, Ken Goldin, stated, “Words can simply not express the historical significance and the importance of this card,” Goldin said. “It is, without a doubt, the single best and the single most valuable Michael Jordan card — and the most sought-after — that has ever been produced.”

The card had not been discovered until 2022 and features the first instance of a Jordan Logoman to also include a logo patch cut from a game-used jersey, signifying its rarity. The card also received a perfect 10 on the grading scale from card grader, PSA.

The most expensive piece of memorabilia sold at auction containing Jordan’s name is a game-worn jersey from Game 1 of the 1998 Finals, which went for $10.1 million at an auction in 2011. This card doesn’t quite match that, but these items are extremely rare.

Whoever purchased this Jordan card might hold on to it for years, and decide to also place it up for auction at some later point. The more time passes, the more valuable the card can grow. Will it surpass $2.98 million? That remains to be seen, but the buyer now owns one of the rarest Jordan items.
