Golden State Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of the modern era, and he recently revealed who else he believes deserves that distinction.
During a preview clip of his new podcast Heat Check with Stephen and Dell Curry, the two-time NBA MVP and his father listed the top five players from their respective careers. Steph listed LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard and himself, and rounded things out with James Harden.
The veteran floor general said he’s aware of the criticism that comes with making lists like this.
“I know every time you do this you’re gonna miss somebody and [people will say], ‘Oh my God, he left him off the list? What was he thinking? This guy doesn’t know basketball,'” Steph said.
Dell, who played in the NBA from 1986 to 2002, said he too understands that there will be detractors who critique their lists, but he’s “at an age where I don’t care who they think I’m leaving off.” The elder Curry listed Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Shaquille O’Neal and Hakeem Olajuwon.
Both Currys admitted that it wasn’t easy to settle on five players, with the Warriors star adding that he had more of his peers under consideration for his list.
“I had, like, Kyrie [Irving], AD [Anthony Davis], my guys, Klay [Thompson], I can keep going,” he said.
