“The Rock as Apocalypse is gonna happen now”: Dwayne Johnson Could Leave Black Adam Behind and Join MCU After His Lucrative Disney Contract

Dwayne Johnson and his Seven Bucks Productions have cracked an exciting deal with The Walt Disney Company that allows him to appear across all Disney platforms. This new deal has also opened doors for The Rock to enter into the MCU. The actor previously tried to make a name with DC’s Black Adam. However, Johnson can now move on from that debacle with his new contract.

The new first-look deal between The Walt Disney Company and The Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions allows the actor to appear anywhere across all the Disney platforms. While the deal was crazy enough to raise chatter, the fans also speculate that Dwayne Johnson may join the MCU soon.

Dwayne Johnson can be the new face of Disney

Dwayne Johnson has been hailed as one of the most significant celebrities in the world after his contributions to both Hollywood and the WWE. Despite occasional bumps in his career like Black Adam, the actor boasts a massive fandom across the globe. His new contract with Disney can now make him an undisputed force in the industry.

According to Variety, the multi-year deal between Seven Bucks Productions and The Walt Disney Company allows them to make projects for theater or streaming. The Rock may also star in these projects. Interestingly, the deal is not only limited to filmed content. Besides his chance to join the MCU or Star Wars, the parties can collaborate in Disney’s tourist attractions or family cruise liners.

While the contract is new, Seven Bucks Productions has already carried out some notable collaborations with Disney. Previously, Johnson collaborated with Disney for the film Jungle Cruise alongside Emily Blunt. Besides that, they also did two seasons of Disney+’s Behind the Attraction and the animated movie Moana.

The Rock is slated to return as the demigod Maui in Moana 2, awaiting release this year. It has also broken various records with its trailer. A live-action adaptation of Moana, with Johnson, is also in development.

Can Dwayne Johnson join the MCU?

While Dwayne Johnson has been a part of some notable collaborations with Disney, many netizens are hyped as the new deal may allow the San Andreas actor to join the MCU. Earlier Johnson tried to be a significant name in the DCEU with his Black Adam. Unfortunately, it failed hard as the film flopped and Johnson’s plans did not work.

On top of everything, James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC and had different plans to execute. The new contract with Disney can be the perfect scenario for the star to take another shot in the world of superheroes with the MCU. Scooper MyTimeToShineHello wrote that we may finally get The Rock as a prominent Marvel villain now.

Although it is debatable if The Rock will take over the role of Apocalypse, it can be a commendable casting. We have already seen how Johnson’s The Red Notice co-star Ryan Reynolds redeemed himself by doing the fan-favorite Deadpool after the Green Lantern debacle. Now it will be exciting to see if the Brahma Bull also gets a similar shift in his career.

Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming with Disney, Moana 2 will be released on November 27, 2024.
