After being an abysmal road team last season, the Golden State Warriors have struggled at home this season. A much improved 21-15 on the road this season, Golden State is just 18-19 at home, which has certainly contributed to their overall disappointing year.
Asked about this after Friday night’s game vs. the Charlotte Hornets, another road win, Warriors star Steph Curry joked, “We might need to stay in a hotel in San Francisco.”
The Warriors will need to try anything at this point to turn their season around, and Curry joked that they may need to stay in hotels even while at home to get some of the road magic they’ve had. Trying to hold off the 11th seed Houston Rockets, Golden State recognizes they need to lock in to avoid falling out of the play-in tournament.
While Charlotte is one of the worst teams in basketball, the Warriors still have to feel good about taking care of their business in this game and putting another win on their record. Controlling their own destiny for the 10th seed, Golden State is focused on themselves, even with Houston trying to chase them down.
The Warriors will have to play better at home down the stretch, but for now they can feel good about their much improved road record from a year ago.
