With 42 points in a win over the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night, Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry passed NBA legend Jerry West for the 13th most 40-point games in NBA history (via Basketball Reference’s StatHead).
With 11 threes in this game, Curry extended his record for the most-such games in NBA history, now with 13. Nobody else in NBA history has more than four games with at least 11 threes.
Curry is on a dominant run right now, with his off night in a win over the Philadelphia 76ers being his only poor scoring performance recently. The Warriors look to be turning things around, going 4-1 on their five-game road trip, and this is largely due to Curry’s play.
Not making any substancial moves at the trade deadline, the Warriors are maintaining their belief that this group has what it takes to turn things around and make a run. It won’t be easy, but wins like this over a good Pacers team show what Golden State is capable of.
Still with reinforcements on the way, Golden State should be getting some key players back from injury in the coming weeks. Steve Kerr has a lot to figure out rotation wise, but should have a pretty solid group of players to go to once the Warriors are fully healthy again.
