As lethal as Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is on the court, he is rather fun off the court. Well, who else do you think has a ‘popcorn addiction’ to his name and engaging in a fun cooking banter with his wife while on Ellen? His ‘stern’ personality takes a hit when he’s off the court, and this same trait proves the most effective in raising his now four children. On the occasion of Father’s Day around the world, Ayesha Curry gives us a glimpse of the same.
Mrs Curry took to her official Instagram account to highlight a post for her 7.8 million followers. It featured a series of photos of the NBA player bonding with his 5-year-old son Canon, his eldest daughter Riley, and his other daughter Ryan. Given that it’s only been three weeks since his and Ayesha’s fourth child Caius Chai was born, she may be waiting before revealing a bonding moment between him and his father to the public. Ayesha followed her post with a caption, in which she spoke from her and her children’s side to express just how much they love the Warriors star. While emphasizing that all of her “FOUR” children were lucky to have someone like Stephen Curry as their father, she also didn’t hesitate to mention that he can be strict when necessary.
“Ever present even in the midst of chaos, silly, loving, compassionate yet stern when necessary. You are EVERYTHING!!! We love you soooooo much. Happy Father’s Day my lover”, wrote Ayesha.
Stephen Curry followed up with his wife’s tribute by putting up a post of his own. Unlike Ayesha’s, this one only contained a single picture, capturing a recent moment of the family spending some quality time at Pixar Studio. A Pram being held on by Stephen indicated that the family had decided to bring in Caius Chai for this outing as well. The player followed his post up with a caption that read “Best job in the world!! Happy Father’s Day”.
Stephen Curry emphasizes “confidence building” as a key factor in raising children
On the court, Stephen Curry has to display authority on several occasions. After all, if you have a ‘bad-boy’ teammate like Draymond Green, what else can you do? Furthermore, taking everything as fun and games does not allow anyone to become a four-time NBA champion. From all the moments that Curry has shared between him and his children, the 36-year-old has come out as a “fun” and loving father. Behind the scenes, however, he has to be a teacher at all times.
During a not-so-recent interview with People Magazine, Curry laid out the parenting philosophy he enforced on his then 3 children. When talking about following the family legacy and getting his kids into sports, he revealed having “nothing too organized” for the moment, especially for his 5-year-old, highly energetic yet low attention span son. Before they could choose their path, however, the father was attempting to instill the qualities that the trio will be needing in the future for success.
“It’s more just confidence building and their ability to find joy in everything they do,” said the Warriors player. “I think that’s a huge part of kids these days, not feeling too much pressure on having to be successful or keep up with their counterparts”.
The ongoing off-season for the Warriors provides Stephen Curry with the perfect opportunity to bond with his four children, including his newborn. He better make full use of that, since it won’t be long before he has to head to Paris for the 2024 Olympics.
