Celebrity chef Ayesha Curry and her NBA star husband, Stephen Curry, have some big news to share.
Their fourth child is officially here!
“Our sweet baby boy decided to make an early arrival!! He’s doing great and we are finally settling in at home as a family of 6! So grateful,” they wrote.
The proud parents also announced his name, “Caius Chai,” adding that he was born on May 11, 2024.
On March 1, Ayesha used the latest issue of her magazine, Sweet July, to share that her family is growing. “For so many years, Stephen and I thought we were done,” Ayesha, 34, wrote in her essay. “We said, ‘Three, that’s it, we’re not doing this again.’”
As Ayesha continued, that all changed for the couple when she and Steph “looked at each other and agreed we wanted to do this again.” In fact, in the years leading up to their fourth pregnancy, Ayesha admitted she always felt like something was missing.
“For me, the decision came from always finding myself looking around and feeling like somebody was missing. I would load up the car and think, ‘Oh, I forgot something.’ But nobody was forgotten.”
But as Ayesha admits, “Maybe somebody was missing. So we set out on this journey, knowing that this would complete our family.”
For Ayesha, this pregnancy has brought up a lot of feelings. As she explains, it’s forced her to see how fast time went by as she and Steph raised their three oldest children.
“I’m realizing how quickly time has gone by with our first three children, who are now self-sufficient and don’t need as much from us,” Ayesha shared, while also opening up about how curious Cannon, her third baby, is about his soon-to-be sibling.
“Canon came up to me the other day and asked, ‘Hey, Mommy, how’s your baby? Does your baby have a working brain?’ Getting to experience this through his eyes and through Ryan and Riley’s eyes has been so cool. They’re at such different ages and stages in life. Their perspectives are so different and it’s been the most exciting thing.”
It’s unclear if Ayesha and Stephen will be as open with their fourth child as they were with their other three.
Last year, Ayesha opened up about a regret she had as a parent. Revealing she wishes she could take back putting her oldest child Riley in the spotlight starting when she was just 2 years old.
You actually may recall the first time Riley went viral. It was back in 2015 during a press conference with her dad.
As Ayesha admitted years later, she was the one who encouraged Riley to sit on her dad’s lap during that particular moment in history. “When the social media thing started, nobody knew what that was going to become,” Ayesha told Insider.
“If we had known back in the day just how chaotic it would make life, I don’t think we would’ve done it. But we were just genuinely living our lives back then. And we thought, ‘This is our kid. We’re bringing our kid along.’”
Steph also admits he regrets his role in the moment as well. “One thing I do technically regret in terms of how fast this all came is when I brought Riley on the podium,” he revealed in 2019.
“I’ve always wanted to… share what I get to do, and all the experiences I have, with my family,” he went on. “I didn’t know how much that would blow up and how much of a splash she [would make] on the scene.”
