The Los Angeles Sparks will be without Cameron Brink for the foreseeable future. Brink, the WNBA’s No. 2 overall pick, suffered a torn ACL in her left knee while playing against the Connecticut Sun on June 18.
After the Sparks revealed the severity of Brink’s injury, she received a personal message from Sonya Curry, Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry’s mom. Brink is Steph’s god sister, and their respective families are incredibly close.
Curry wants the 6-foot-4 forward to keep her head up after learning about the devastating news.
“We may fall down but we always get up! God got you!!!!James 1:2-4 @cameronbrink22 ❤️,” Curry shared with her 245,000 followers on Instagram.
Curry supported Brink at the 2024 WNBA draft and cheered on the rookie’s preseason debut on Instagram. “Letsssssssss gooooooo!🙏🏼👏,” Sonya wrote, sharing a video of her god daughter’s dancing entrance. Brink commented, “Lolol love u god momma.”
Brink’s ACL tear will keep her from joining Team U.S.A’s 3×3 basketball team at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. As it stands, it’s unclear if the Stanford alum will suit up again this season.
