Charles Barkley says the relationship between Chicago Bulls legends Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen will “never be the same” after Jordan’s son began a relationship with Pippen’s ex-wife.
Jordan’s son, Marcus, 33, and Scottie Pippen’s ex-wife, Larsa, 49, started a relationship for more than a year and repeatedly shared snaps together on social media. The news of the relationship raised eyebrows in NBA circles with the pair breaking up repeatedly and then making up again.
Jordan and Pippen won six NBA titles together during their time in Chicago during the 1990s, forming arguably the best combination in US team sports history.
Speaking on the latest edition of Shannon Sharpe’s podcast “Club Shay Shay”, Barkley told host Shannon Sharpe he would not be happy if a former teammate of his had started going out with his daughter.
Barkley said it would be difficult for Pippen and Jordan to comprehend the situation, saying things will “never be the same” between them.
“I feel bad for Michael; I feel bad for Scottie. That is so messy,” Barkley said.
“I don’t like messy because when it’s messy everybody has an opinion on it. Everybody has an opinion and you know the internet is not a place for messy.
“And you have to understand that there’s a lot of kids involved and people are mean. It’s unfortunate. … I feel bad for everybody involved because I see all the pictures, I don’t do the comment stuff, but I know they gonna be mean.
“I just hate mess and it’s just really messy. There are no winners, there’s only losers, because Michael and Scottie’s relationship can never be the same.”
The couple were first linked romantically in September 2022 and then the two went public on Instagram in January 2023.
But the couple called it quits this February before getting back together days later — before splitting up again for good in March, according to reports.
