Predictably, much has been made of the blockbuster trade that saw Chris Paul land with the Warriors last week. The 12-time All Star is now set to team up with some of his fiercest rivals and fans have questioned whether the group will mesh.
Paul cleared the air when it came to Stephen Curry and expressed his excitement regarding his new organization and teammates.
“Me and Steph known each other for a long time,” Paul said Monday during an appearance on ESPN’s NBA Today. “My wife was at his wedding, I think him and his wife was at our wedding, but we’ve known each other for a very very long time.
“I’m excited to get a chance to play alongside him, Klay [Thompson], Wig [Andrew Wiggins], Draymond [Green], all of them, man,” he continued. “They’ve got an unbelievable organization and that team is just—they’ve been playing together for a while and they know what they doing.”
Paul, 38, is entering the final stretch of his career and is coming off a season where he averaged 13.9 points and 8.9 assists per game for the Suns. Despite being more than a capable basketball player now, it’ll be interesting to see how he’s used in Golden State with Curry already in position as the team’s clear point guard.
