It’s going to take some time to see Chris Paul joining forces with Steph Curry.
On Sunday night, the two future Hall of Famers were sitting courtside together at the Warriors’ summer league game in Las Vegas, along with fellow Golden State teammates Jonathan Kuminga and Gary Payton II.
Paul and Curry have had some epic and intense duels over the past decade-plus. Earlier this week, the trade between the Warriors and Washington Wizards went official, as Jordan Poole, Patrick Baldwin Jr. and Ryan Rollins were shipped to D.C. with some picks for Paul.
Paul also joked about the new situation while meeting with reporters, as he reportedly said, “Never thought you’d see the day, right?” per Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle.
At one point during the game, Steph spoke with ESPN’s Cassidy Hubbarth about his new teammate. The two guards will have to do some serious meshing if Paul wants to get his first ring and Curry wants to get his fifth.
“You’re starting to think about how the rotations are gonna work and certain play calls and all that stuff,” Curry said. “Your imagination is starting to get a little bit more vivid now that he’s in the fold officially. We’re excited about the challenge, we talked about it. A lot of high IQ guys trying to figure out how to win. We’re looking forward to it.”
