The Golden State Warriors are gearing up for their first regular-season game with Chris Paul on their roster, scheduled for October 24 against his former team, the Phoenix Suns.
The 12-time All-Star has described his transition to the Warriors as “seamless,” offering optimism for the team’s quest for a fifth championship during the Steve Kerr-Stephen Curry era.
“I’m being serious, this seems so simple,” Paul told the Dubs Talk podcast.
“I got 19 years of experience. The game hadn’t changed unless they started shooting with something different. I feel like what I’ve been fortunate is this isn’t my first time changing teams. It’s not the first time I’ve heard outside noise, so every time I change teams, everyone says ‘it’s not gonna work.'”
No championship for Paul
This addition is significant as Paul, despite an illustrious career, has yet to secure an NBA championship.
The Warriors acquired him by trading Jordan Poole, making it his sixth team in a career that has seen him play for the New Orleans Hornets, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder and the Phoenix Suns.
Before the regular season tips off, the Warriors still have four preseason games, featuring matchups against the Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings, and the San Antonio Spurs.
Paul’s arrival has heightened expectations for the Warriors and their pursuit of another championship, further elevating the anticipation surrounding the upcoming season.
