Stephen Curry‘s season has come to an early end, but he has added a few accolades and achievements to his resume in the postseason. After winning the Clutch Player of the Year and the PBWA Magic Johnson Award, the Golden State Warriors guard has added another All-NBA badge to his jersey, which marks the 10th selection of his career. Guess who else has 10 All-NBA selections in their career? It is none other than Magic Johnson, who decided to share a few words about Curry on achieving this impressive feat.
The Los Angeles Lakers legend shared, “To one of my favorite players of all time, Steph Curry. Congratulations my brother, on being named to your 10th All-NBA selection…We’ve always been linked together. You know I love you…You’ve changed the game of basketball in the NBA.” Johnson also wished luck to Curry ahead of the Olympics.
This appreciation does not end with Johnson. We have Dallas Mavericks icon Dirk Nowitzki here as well. Nowitzki shared, “Only 26 of us have accomplished double figures, so congrats on that. And ofcourse on a personal note, always been a fan. Keep shooting those threes from the half-court, my man, I’ll be watching.” Steph did lead the NBA in 3-point field goals with 357 for the season –marking his 8th time.
Head coach of the Warriors Steve Kerr had a few words for Curry too. He shared, “Ten straight years, or at least ten out of eleven I guess, with the one year with the injury to be All-NBA is just a testament to Steph’s work ethic…It’s just an amazing accomplishment.” The only time Curry missed out on the team in the last 11 years was in 2019-20 due to a left-hand fracture. Now continuing his franchise record for the most selections, Curry finally has something to smile about and take pride in after a disappointing play-in elimination.
With Curry achieving 10 All-NBA selections, let’s take a look at a few active players who have recorded the same.
Who are the active NBA players with more than 10 All-NBA selections?
A panel of 100 broadcasters and sportswriters every year, vote to select 15 players for the All-NBA teams. A tradition that has been going on since 1989 to fetch the exceptional, influencing their contracts with the franchise. As Tyrese Haliburton, Jalen Brunson, and Anthony Edwards, celebrate their first selection this year, there are three veterans who celebrate their double digits.
Curry made it to the All-NBA Third Team this year for the second time in his career. He has four First-Team selections and four Second-Team selections. Another active NBA player right above Curry would be Kevin Durant, who has eleven All-NBA selections. The Phoenix Suns star made it to the Second Team this year.
Warriors guard Chris Paul has eleven All-NBA selections, which makes him the second on the list of active NBA players. And, how could a list be complete if King James is not in it? LeBron James has a total of 20 All-NBA selections after he made it to the Third Team this year. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar is not only on top of the active list, but he has the most All-NBA selections all-time. This is a record that will hold the top spot for ages to come.
