Even though it’s only been five games, the Golden State Warriors already look like a better team than they were last year. Within those four wins is an undefeated 3-0 record on the road. Draymond Green attributes it to one major reason – chemistry.
After the Warriors defeated the Sacramento Kings last night, Draymond Green gave a very candid and shocking about the Warriors’ chemistry last season.
“Last year was horse sh*t,” Green said. “Hard to come to work. Hard to come to work. Not fun. This year, you see the joy on guys’ faces when they come into the building. You’ve got guys staying over two, three hours after just sitting around talking. Getting here two, three hours early just to be here. It’s like, you start to see that and you’re like okay, this is a group that likes being together. We did some stuff this summer, had dinners together – no one was running out the door. Usually, there’s that guy who’s like looking around ‘when can I get out.’ You’re looking around trying to see, and nobody’s trying to get out. We’re trying to build on that, and that’ll be a big key to our season.”
It’s a pretty shocking statement from Green, especially because he was one of the major reasons for the Warriors having poor chemistry last season. When he punched Jordan Poole in the face, it arguably changed the direction of the team for the whole season. It’s important to note that the Warriors just won a championship right before that, too.
Regardless of whatever happened last season, the Warriors’ chemistry is through the roof now, and the results on the court show it.
