Dwayne Johnson made a special video for a major Moana fan.
On July 1, the actor, 52, shared a video on Instagram in which he said the Make-a-Wish Foundation had reached out to him with an urgent request to send a message to a 4-year-old girl named Lily Guerrero, who Johnson said is currently on home hospice care.
“A ‘rush’ wish means what the implication sounds like, which is time is just not on our side when it comes to this particular wish,” Johnson said in the video.
“This rush wish is that Lily is on home hospice now and she watches Moana every day, all day, her dad said. Her wish is to have Dwayne Johnson sing ‘You’re Welcome’ to her and have it recorded so she can listen to it over and over and over and over.”
“Of course, Mom and Dad have asked that I share this wish on social media to share Lily’s spirit and strength and her mana, and of course we take that energy and we send it right back to Lily,” he added, noting that he was told the young Moana fan is “super excited about this,” even as she spends time on a feeding tube.
After sharing some facts about Lily, Johnson played the instrumental track to his popular song from the 2016 animated film Moana, ‘You’re Welcome,’ which he sings as his character Maui, and broke into the tune.
“Thank you so much for allowing me the privilege to make your Make-a-Wish come true, me singing ‘You’re Welcome’ in a few keys I’m quite sure don’t exist,” Johnson said in the video. “I hope you enjoyed it. And, Lily, you’re so special,”
As Johnson said in the video, he has worked with the Make-a-Wish Foundation a number of times over the years. He helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for the organization in 2019 and once shared that his late father Rocky Johnson was one of the organization’s first-ever celebrity wish-granters.
“Needed to share this ‘rush’ wish with all of you. And in return we all can send this little 4yr old girl all the positive vibes and beautiful MANA she deserves and needs right now,” Johnson wrote in a caption to his Instagram post.
“Lily Guerrero, it’s my honor and this one is for you… I love you, and I want you to always know just how special you are,” he added. “ps – tell your cats I said hello, and sorry for singing in some keys that don’t exist.”
