The Golden State Warriors reached a new low on Wednesday, failing to show up for their matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans and getting blown out of their own building.
The Warriors suffered a 141-105 loss, drawing boos from their home fans at Chase Center for the second straight game. It was the final game of Golden State’s seven-game homestand, and the team went 2-5 to fall to 11-11 at home this season. It was just a year ago that the Warriors had the second-best home record in the league at 33-8.
Golden State never led in Wednesday’s game and trailed by as many as 41 points in the fourth quarter. The team’s defense was abysmal, as New Orleans had eight players score in double figures, including all five starters, and shot 57.4 percent from the field and 47.5 percent from three-point range.
The Warriors were led by Moses Moody, who scored 21 points off the bench. Rookie forward Trayce Jackson-Davis added 19 points off the bench. Star point guard Stephen Curry was limited to 15 points on 4-of-13 shooting.
Golden State head coach Steve Kerr said after the game that he feels his team isn’t playing with confidence:
Fans on social media couldn’t help but rip the Warriors for their deplorable effort at home on Wednesday night:
The Warriors are hoping the eventual return of forward Draymond Green will help turn things around, but he alone won’t be enough to fix the team’s problems. Golden State’s aging roster has not been able to keep up with the new generation in the NBA, and it appears that the league’s most recent dynasty is officially coming to an end.
The Warriors (17-20) will begin a four-game road trip on Friday when they visit the Chicago Bulls (18-21).
