Almost 4 decades since the Air Jordan first came out, but that still does not guarantee unconditional support. Notably, Michael Jordan‘s brand has teamed up with the WNBA to come up with their latest launch of Air Jordan 3- which will be Jordan’s third collaboration with the league but a first with the official logo. However, not all the fans seem to be in awe of the upcoming collaborative product.
The official Instagram page of Nice Kicks shared the first look of the upcoming Air Jordan 3 ‘Desert Camo’. “@jumpman23 is teaming up with the WNBA to release a “Desert Camo” Air Jordan 3 dropping July 13 🔥 What do you think of these?” read the caption to the post. It is worth mentioning that this first look announcement came ahead of the WNBA’s first game this season; having its own colorway.
There is no denying that the WNBA has grabbed a lot of attention this year. Especially because of the addition of fresh faces like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese to the league. Notably, these are the names that created some major buzz even before they were drafted into the league. So much so that Clark got a $28 million deal and signature sneakers offered by Nike with her debut itself. And as per the recent reports, now even A’ja Wilson will receive her own signature sneaker deal with Nike.
So this seems to be the perfect time that the Jordan brand could have come up with the first look of the sneakers. Speaking of the appearance of the shoes, the camouflage theme of the sneakers somewhat overshadows the white colored Jumpman logo. However, the WNBA logo on the in-sole and the black one on the heel are quite set apart. Further details about the sneakers are still awaited. But what the fans see so far doesn’t seem to agree with most of them.
How have the fans reacted to Air Jordan 3 ‘Desert Camo’?
Although there is some love for the sneakers in the comment section, the majority of it is flooded with negative responses. The most popular and common opinion among these being that the sneakers seem to be outdated adorning the desert camo canvas for majority of the product.
“These are 20 years too late,” commented one of the Insta users, adding to the majority opinion that the sneakers belong to a past era.
Meanwhile, another user expressed his disappointment over Jordan Brand consistently making some terrible sneakers. “JB will always amaze me with how they make shoes consistently and constantly, which no one ever asked for,” he commented. The heat has been previously felt for Union LA X Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG, Air Jordan 7 Retro J2K Filbert, and Air Jordan 10 “Wings” among others just from the persisting decade. “they are running out of ideas,” one wrote considering camo has been a known number from the brand.
Then there were some like @therealdealdjace2 who find the sneakers unappealing, but they’d still go for them, regardless. “Ugly as f*ck but i think id wear em,” he posted in the comments.
However, it is not as if there is no support or love for Michael Jordan’s brand’s upcoming product. “You might be able to wear these a lot but they 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥,” read the comment by @WigWealthy. The shoes are reported to use canvas material on the upper side instead of leather
Then there was another, who seemed to be the most excited about this colorway of the upcoming Air Jordan 3. “F*ck yeah! Desert Camo all the way!!!!” he commented on the IG post by Nice Kicks. What is your opinion of the AJ3 ‘Desert Camo’ sneakers? Let us know your views in the comments.
