Kevin Durant defends Steph Curry after the ball player faced backlash for his “Not Like Us” commentary.
Ahead of a recent Team USA exhibition game, a clip of Curry saying, “damn with this song” was posted online and has since viral. “This is not the only song in America” he also was heard saying.
Jermaine Dupri caught wind of the clip and has shared his sentiments on Curry’s comment. “I just saw Steph’s reaction to the Kendrick record and I thought it was very ironic because what he is feeling (Pause ) is a record impacting the streets and this new generation is not use to that,I’m sure many of yall don’t understand what I’m saying, so let me know your thoughts !” JD captions his video.
“I think what the issue is we used to have a few songs with this impact at the same time to spread it out alil more…because we haven’t had a Lean Back or a In Da Club in so long…” DJ Jazzy Jeff adds.
Kevin Durant also jumped in the conversation saying, “Maybe bro just wanna hear another song,” KD replied.
Regardless of any opinions, Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us has made a huge impact on the culture. The Drake diss is currently the number-one song in the world.
The hit single may also be eligible for a Grammy nomination. During a recent interview with TMZ, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. discussed the record’s potential for a Grammy.
“Obviously, it’s a hot record, it’s amazing artistry,” Mason Jr. expressed. “Great writing… Incredible.” He goes on to mention Lamar’s previous Grammy’s success. “You got an artist that’s been nominated before,” Mason Jr. noted. “He’s been successful with the organization… I don’t see any reason why it couldn’t be.”
