Former Kansas State star Markquis Nowell’s attempted Steph Curry move was a failure

When you are as successful as Golden State star Steph Curry, it’s only natural for others to mimic one of your signature moves.

Curry has mastered the lookaway three-pointer during a career that has seen him win two NBA MVP awards and four NBA

Finals championships. If you watch basketball, you’ve likely seen this move.

Former Kansas State star Markquis Nowell, who signed a two-way contract last month with the Toronto Raptors, tried the move Wednesday in an NBA Summer League game. The Raptors were taking on the Detroit Pistons in Las Vegas when Nowell pump-faked a defender and had an open look at a three-pointer. Nowell fired the shot, then turned and headed the other direction. One problem: the shot wasn’t close to being good. In fact, Nowell missed the rim entirely. It’s safe to say this did not go as planned.

Nowell had a rough day overall. He missed all five three-point attempts and was just 2 of 13 from the field as Toronto lost 94-90.
