Training camp around the NBA will begin in less than a week, so teams continue to make roster moves in preparation for the preseason.
On Thursday evening, the Golden State Warriors announced they signed six new players.
Via Warriors PR: “The Golden State Warriors have signed free agent guard Kendric Davis, forward Rudy Gay, forward Javan Johnson, center Jayce Johnson, guard Rodney McGruder and guard Donovan Williams, it was announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.”
Gay is the most notable player on the list, as he is a 17-year NBA veteran.
This past year, the 37-year-old averaged 5.2 points and 2.9 rebounds per contest while shooting 38.0% from the field in 56 games for the Utah Jazz.
McGruder is also an NBA veteran with seven years of experience.
This past year, he played in 32 games for the Detroit Pistons and averaged 5.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 40.8% from the field and 42.3% from the three-point range.
Williams played in two games for the Atlanta Hawks last year and also averaged 12.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals per contest in 32 G League regular season games.
Javan Johnson went undrafted in June and is coming off a year where he averaged 14.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest while shooting 42.6% from the field and 41.2% from the three-point range in 33 games for DePaul.
Jayce Johnson is coming off a strong year in the G League with the Santa Cruz Warriors (the affiliate of Golden State).
The 26-year-old averaged 9.4 points, 13.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 blocks per contest while shooting 57.8% from the field in 32 regular season games.
Lastly, Davis went undrafted in June after a sensational season for Memphis.
The 24-year-old averaged 21.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.0 steals per contest while shooting 41.4% from the field.
