Former Golden State Warriors’ forward Juan Toscano-Anderson has found himself a new home after failing to win a training camp deal with the franchise.
The 30-year-old will play for the Mexico City Capitanes of the NBA G League, as reported by the team in recent days. Toscano-Anderson was previously hoping to continue his NBA career, having finished last season with the Utah Jazz.

Toscano-Anderson had held multiple workouts in the Warriors’ facility this offseason, with some expectation that the 2022 NBA champion would be part of the franchise’s 21-man training camp roster.
Golden State instead chose to go down the youth path with the likes of Kendric Davis, Javan Johnson and Donovan Williams, while also preferring veteran forward Rudy Gary and wing Rodney McGruder.
An Oakland native, Toscano-Anderson got his NBA start with the Warriors in the 2019-20 season after going undrafted in 2015. The 6’6″ forward appeared in 73 regular season games during Golden State’s triumphant 2021-22 season.
Toscano-Anderson left the Warriors for the Los Angeles Lakers last offseason, yet failed to make an impact before being traded, along with Russell Westbrook, to the Jazz in a three-team transaction in February.
‘JTA’ played in 52 total games last season, averaging 3.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 13.5 minutes per game. His deteriorating three-point percentage had become a problem over the last couple of seasons, culminating in his inability to garner another NBA contract.
Toscano-Anderson will now try to work his way back to the NBA through the G League, but either way will be fondly remembered among Warrior fans as a champion forever etched into franchise history.
