Lewis Hamilton finally ended his 946-day winless streak by winning the British Grand Prix, and in doing so broke the record for most wins at one venue.
The seven-time world champion mastered mixed conditions to claim a 104th career victory and his first since the introduction of the current regulations.
Reigning world champion Max Verstappen and McLaren’s Lando Norris joined him on the podium at the Silverstone International Circuit, on what was an emotional rostrum.

Unsurprisingly, in the United Kingdom, publication The Times has focused on Hamilton’s victory. The win came on the 946th day since his most recent victory prior to the British GP.
Ahead of Hamilton’s home race, he had not been victorious since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Of course, he was set to win the season finale in Abu Dhabi, only for a controversial decision to be made by former race director Michael Masi.
🇮🇹 La Gazzetta dello Sport – ‘Hamilton Tears: “I Thought I Wasn’t Up To It Anymore.”‘
In Italy, La Gazzetta dello Sport has also heavily covered Hamilton’s victory. The Mercedes driver is, of course, joining Ferrari next year, with his British GP win potentially being his last for the Silver Arrows.
Hamilton was incredibly emotional over the team radio after crossing the finish line, and was heard in floods of tears.
Throughout his media duties post-race, the 39-year-old remained on the edge of tears, with him having conceded that substantial negative thoughts had crossed his mind over the last couple of years.

There is a theme in global media, as in France, Hamilton is also dominating the headlines. French newspaper L’Equipe has focused on the British driver not expecting to end his winless streak at home.
Notably, the French outlet also includes Hamilton explaining that it was the first time he had won an F1 race since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, with ‘God Save the King’ having been played.
It was an emotional win for Hamilton as it was his last British GP with Mercedes, a manufacturer who has supported him since he was 13 years old.
🇳🇱 De Telegraaf – ‘McLaren leadership in the dust after wrong decisions at Silverstone’
In the Netherlands, De Telegraaf has given significant attention to McLaren’s costly strategic errors. The first mistake saw McLaren opt against double-stacking when heavy rain fell.
Oscar Piastri was sacrificed in many ways, as he had to complete an additional lap compared to everyone else on slick tyres, despite the circuit being wet. This took him out of victory and podium contention.
The second crucial error came when the circuit had dried, and drivers returned to slick tyres. Despite having a set of fresh medium tyres, McLaren fitted Lando Norris with a set of softs to chase Lewis Hamilton for victory.
Instead, Norris’ tyres degraded quickly and resulted in the Briton dropping to third, behind Max Verstappen. Fitting the medium tyres could have won Norris the race.
🇩🇪 BILD – ‘Hamilton snatches Schumi’s next record!’
In Germany, BILD has highlighted Hamilton breaking a record he shared with fellow seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher.
Prior to the British GP, Hamilton and Schumacher shared a record for most wins at one venue. Their joint-record had been eight wins; however, Hamilton has now won the British GP a historic nine times.
On top of that, Hamilton’s win means that Mercedes has won back-to-back races for the first time since 2021.
🇦🇺 Herald Sun – ‘Brad Pitt image infuriates Formula 1 world following British Grand Prix’
And finally, in Australia, newspaper the Herald Sun has written about fans frustration with Hollywood royalty Brad Pitt.
The actor was again filming for the upcoming F1 move – ironically titled ‘F1’ – during the British GP. Filming even took place post-race in the media pen.
Both Pitt and co-star Damson Idris were spotted behind actual drivers walking in the media pen performing fake interviews for the movie, to the displeasure of the fans. In particular, Pitt was filming behind Norris, during an honest interview by the McLaren driver.
