As a former WWE wrestler and Hollywood’s most famous current action superstar, The Rock’s weight and height are much bigger than what’s usually expected of even the most defined Hollywood action heroes. The Rock has basically never taken a year off when it comes to his career as a cultural icon. Since he first appeared on WWE in 1996, he’s captivated fans with his winning smile, perfectly shaved head, incredible feats of athleticism, a superhero-like physique, and a talent for acting that’s set him apart from other wrestlers trying to break into Hollywood.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took his wrestling nickname from his father, Wayde Douglas Bowles or “Rocky Johnson”, who was also a world-renowned wrestler. Known for his role as a charismatic trash talker, The Rock easily pivoted to Hollywood, using his strength, size, and knack for quips and witty dialogue to make him one of the biggest stars working today. Dwayne Johnson has played villains, heroes, and funny men throughout his career, but what he’s never done is shed his impressive physique, and his Instagram shows he doesn’t plan to anytime soon.
The Rock Weighs 270.4 Pounds
Dwayne Johnson Frequently Posts His Workout Routines On Instagram
According to a 2022 Instagram post, The Rock weighs 270.4 pounds. That’s about ten pounds more than his billed weight back in his WWE days (via ESPN). His billed height back then was 6′ 5″, and though some other sites list him as shorter, his photo with 7′ 9″ Chinese former professional basketball player Sun Ming Ming suggests that 6′ 5″ is fairly accurate (via X). And it’s not easy to keep up that weight if The Rock’s workout routines are any indication.
The Rock often posts about his workouts and post-training efforts that have kept him in peak physical shape for so long. In that 2022 video, he discusses getting up before dawn to work out and lays out what he’ll need the night before. Johnson begins the week with some Monday motivation, scribbling on his chalkboard, “I do anything like I do everything — with all I got”. His Instagram account is filled with workout videos and motivational tips, and his Instagram post on June 24, 2024, suggests an excellent routine with tips for shrugs and lunges.
But The Rock doesn’t seem to be concerned with telling people how to look a certain way or lift more; his posts are more positive, suggesting ways to keep disciplined and stay motivated. He’s also not afraid to share his cheat meals like in this Instagram, and ends many of his videos wishing his followers a good week.
How The Rock Compares To Other Wrestlers Turned Hollywood Stars
The Rock Is The High Watermark For WWE Stars In Hollywood
The Rock is the standard from which other wrestlers compare themselves when they try to make it into the movie and TV business. Plenty of wrestlers have made great movies, but few have done it at such a consistent clip for so long as The Rock has. The two recent WWE stars who have managed to carve out impressive filmographies for themselves are John Cena and Dave Bautista. John Cena, who is billed at 6′ 1″ and 251 lbs (via ESPN), has taken almost an identical track as The Rock, even appearing in Fast X with him.
Bautista, 6′ 6″ and 290 lbs (via WWE), has taken a more unique path, still appearing in plenty of action films but also playing more dramatic characters in Blade Runner 2049 and Knock at the Cabin. Ronda Rousey and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin are also professional wrestlers who have semi-successfully spun themselves off into Hollywood, though no one has approached the career The Rock has had just yet.
