LeBron James has undeniably reached unbelievable heights and already surpassed a wide array of NBA greats. Many are convinced that he moved the needle as far as being an all-around player goes, and he may be the only player in history who can play all positions.
While finding another player similar to James is complex, the man in question begs to disagree. For LeBron, his game significantly resembles that of Scottie Pippen and Penny Hardaway, which is also the reason why he wished he could’ve played with the two NBA legends.
“It’s crazy, I love Scottie Pippen, bro. Obviously, MJ was crazy, Kob’, Kobe would have been another one, but Scottie Pippen and Penny Hardaway was like my two,” James said on Uninterrupted’s The Shop last year. “Cause I seen myself in them. Like, I saw myself in Pippen and Penny. Tall guards, point forward, getting everybody involved, defending all type of positions.”
What about in today’s game?
For obvious reasons, it’s quite understandable if James couldn’t pick one who plays like him in today’s game. However, the King is sure about who he wants to play with at present.
According to the four-time MVP, there may be countless talented players in today’s game, but his son Bronny James will always be the No. 1 player on his wish list. Other than Bronny, LeBron confessed to dreaming of playing alongside his former NBA Finals rival and Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry.
“Bronny is No. 1 on my list… but like right now?, it’s Steph,” I love everything about that guy. Lethal. When he get out his car, you better guard him right from the moment he pulls up to the arena. … You might wanna guard him when he get out of the bed. Swear to god. He’s serious.”
Nobody’s replacing LeBron
James earned comparisons to NBA Hall of Famer and two-time MVP Karl Malone at one point. Many thought LeBron had the strength, frame, and consistency of the Mailman, but only he was quicker and more athletic.
Malone once shared his honest take on the matter and declared that people could say what they want, but LeBron is one of one, bar none.
“When you talk about the whole package, it’s real in what he’s done at 6-8. I don’t like to say never, but you’re not going to see LeBron James again. Like they said about Elvis [Presley] when he left the building. You’re not going to see more LeBrons. I’m 60. And I haven’t seen anybody yet coming up who might be another one of him,” Malone explained
