Surprising how everything with Michael Jordan‘s name on it sells except for his mansion. First listed in 2012, MJ has been trying to sell his mansion for 12 years now. And then there is Shaquille O’Neal who managed to sell his mansion in almost no time.
The former LA Lakers star has sold his Texas Mansion in Carrollton within nearly 1 month of listing it in July. The house was bought by the 4x NBA champ back in 2022, reportedly from a Texas-based real estate agent named Zac Gideo. But, how much profit has Shaq made by selling it? Well, as per realtor.com, the sale price of the mansion has remained undisclosed but the asking price for the mansion was $1.7.
Let’s have a closer look at what brings the mansion’s price to a seven-figure number. As for the interiors, the 5,200-square-foot home includes 5 bedrooms, a deluxe office with built-in shelving, 5 full bathrooms, 2 half bathrooms, a fireplace, and a tiered ceiling. Impressed already? If not, the fact that the kitchen, breakfast, and living space have an open concept may interest you.
Apart from this, the kitchen also includes some high-end appliances like a 6-burner Wolf gas range, granite countertops, and a large island. However, Michael Jordan’s $15 million mansion has more things than a person would think of in a dream house. This includes nine bedrooms, a pool pavilion, 15 full bathrooms, and even a regulation-size indoor basketball court. But then, what exactly is the issue with the mansion?
Analyzing why Michael Jordan has not been able to sell his Chicago Mansion
One Broker associate, Katherine Malkin, believes that the mansion’s size in itself is an issue. As per a Sport Bible article, Malkin stated the house would be great for a very large family. “It’s like a resort on its own. It has everything anyone would ever need,” she added. But, that’s the real question — does a regular family need all of this?
Bowers Realty Group’s Bruce Bowers explains the situation in the simplest way — “It’s clearly his home”. He stated that it is a tough sell because it would require a lot of work for someone to make it their own. Also, there are too many customizations involved in the mansion.
It is worth mentioning the 6x NBA champ had first listed the mansion at a staggering price of $29 million. However, with time, the price has now come down to $14,855,000, which is also a nod to his jersey number 23 as the digits of this price, on adding up, come down to 23. But, despite such a major slash in the price, the mansion still stands without a buyer.
A recent viral TikTok claiming a tour inside of this mansion has again brought it back to the media attention. But, will Michael Jordan’s 12-year-old struggle come to an end this year? Maybe, if Shaquille O’Neal could share what exactly he did right about his deal.
