Steph Curry, widely regarded as one of the greatest shooters in the history of the NBA, had a difficult time on December 17, 2023, when the Golden State Warriors played against the Portland Trail Blazers. Curry’s remarkable streak of making at least one 3-pointer in 268 consecutive games ended that night.
Despite being the two-time MVP and a four-time NBA champion, Curry struggled to find his rhythm during the game. He finished with only 7 points, shooting 2-for-12 (16.7%) from the field and 0-for-8 from beyond the arc. This was a rare occasion, as Curry has been a prolific scorer from a distance, consistently making more than 40% of his 3-point attempts throughout his career.
How about the total in his career
Interestingly, Curry’s last regular season game without a made 3-pointer was on November 8, 2018, when the Golden State Warriors lost to the Milwaukee Bucks. He finished that game with 10 points on 5-for-14 (35.7%) shooting and missed all four attempts from deep.
While Curry’s inability to make a 3-pointer has become infrequent in recent years, it was more common earlier in his career. He has played for over 15 seasons and has had 40 regular season games and one playoff game without a made 3-pointer. However, Curry has improved his shooting accuracy over the years, and 31 of those 40 games occurred during his first four seasons (2009-10 to 2012-13).
Despite his rare off-night on December 18, Curry remains one of the most skilled and dominant players in the NBA. His only playoff game without a made 3-pointer was during Game 5 of the 2022 NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics. Although he missed all nine attempts from beyond the arc, he still scored 16 points on 7-for-22 (31.8%) shooting, leading the Warriors to a 104-94 victory.
