The Golden State Warriors are facing a challenging season as they suffered their sixth straight loss on Tuesday against the Phoenix Suns. With a record of 10-13, the team’s championship window is dimming, and the recent suspension of Draymond Green has added to their troubles. ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins has even suggested that it may be time for Steph Curry to join another team.
In their recent game against the Suns, Green was ejected after throwing a wild forearm at Jusuf Nurkic. This marked his third ejection of the season, and it is widely believed that he will face another suspension from the league. The NBA has already warned Green about his on-court behavior, and it seems inevitable that further disciplinary action will be taken.
While Curry is undoubtedly the Warriors’ best player, he relies on Green’s contributions for success. Green has been a key piece in all of the championships that Curry has won, and his absence would undoubtedly impact the team’s performance. However, Perkins has a different perspective and believes that Curry should be freed from the current situation.
“Free Steph Curry!!! He don’t deserve this. Real Talk,” Perkins wrote on X.
Perkins’ post went viral
Perkins’ statement quickly went viral, garnering over 4,300 likes, 1,000 retweets, and 220 comments. It is clear that many fans and analysts share his sentiment and are concerned about the direction of the Warriors.
In the 2023-24 season, Curry has been a standout performer for the Warriors. In 21 appearances, he has averaged 29.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 5.1 three-pointers per game. His highest-scoring game came against the New Orleans Pelicans, where he recorded 42 points, along with seven rebounds, six assists, and six three-pointers. The two games that Curry missed resulted in back-to-back losses for the team.
Despite Curry’s impressive performances, the Warriors have struggled to secure victories. In their recent game against the Suns, Curry led the team with 24 points, five rebounds, four assists, four three-pointers, and three steals. However, their efforts fell short as they lost by just three points.
The Warriors now face a tough five-game stretch after their matchup with the Suns. They will take on the star-studded Los Angeles Clippers on December 14 and then host the Brooklyn Nets at the Chase Center two days later. Following that, they will face the Portland Trail Blazers, Boston Celtics, and Washington Wizards from December 17 to 22.
