Anthony Edwards has emerged as one of the league’s brightest stars. With his offensive skills and off-court personality, many have compared him to a young Michael Jordan.
Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas, though, doesn’t think people should compare the two because they have different playing styles.
“In terms of their game, their games aren’t similar to me. Edwards, at this age, is a far better perimeter shooter. But Jordan, at the 22-23 age, was a far more better driver, getting to the basket, and finishing around the rim,” Thomas said on Sirius XM NBA Radio.
“Edwards has been spectacular around the rim when he gets there but Jordan, in his first couple of years, lived in the paint. Edwards has a perimeter game that complements his inside game.”
The NBA legend also that the Timberwolves star has more confidence in his teammates than Jordan did back in the day.
“Edwards, at his age, will defer to his teammates a lot more and trust his teammates a lot more than Jordan did in his early stages,” he said.
“Now that’s not a knock on any of them, but just because they both jump high, [it] doesn’t mean they’re the same player.”
