Unless we missed the memo that James Bond’s next outing will see him foregoing missions to capture international criminals and instead chaining cigarettes relentlessly on a garage forecourt while dealing with halfwit swindlers, Jason Statham would be a strange choice to play 007.
Sadly we won’t get to see the star of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels giving Bond a geezer makeover as he’s ruled himself out of taking on the role after Daniel Craig.
Speaking at the premiere of his forthcoming film The Meg in Los Angeles, the British actor was asked if he would be interested in taking on the iconic character.
“No-one is coming to me for that job,” he replied.
He went on to explain what fans can expect from his new action film saying, “You are going to love people getting eaten. And people like us not getting eaten.”
Current favourites to play Bond include Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and James Norton, though we doubt any of them would act getting eaten with half as much gusto as Statham.
