Jason Statham is set to reunite with Sylvester Stallone and David Ayer in Levon’s Trade. Stallone and Statham have enjoyed a long-running series of collaborations, as they partnered on The Expendables, its sequels, and 2013’s Homefront. Additionally, Statham worked alongside Ayer for The Beekeeper, a 2024 movie about a former clandestine operative seeking revenge after a friend’s death.
The three Hollywood icons are taking the opportunity to partner up again for Levon’s Trade. Deadline reports that filming is expected to begin in March 2024, and it will include all three of these stars in different roles. Statham will be the leading actor, while Ayer will direct and Stallone will pen the screenplay. Statham signed onto the movie prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike, meaning that this announcement does not breach strike terms.
Everything We Know About Levon’s Trade
Based on Chuck Dixon’s book series, Levon’s Trade will follow the adventures of Levon Cade, who will be played by Statham. The skilled fighter retires and elects to become a construction worker, only to return to his trade when his boss’ daughter is taken. He proceeds to uncover a vast criminal conspiracy, leading to Levon employing his hard-won action skills.
There are 11 books in the Levon Cade series, meaning that Ayer, Stallone, and Statham could very well create a long-lasting franchise. Very few thriller franchises can truly last for 11 movies, so it is unlikely that every one of Dixon’s books will be adapted. Still, success could spawn a long-lasting run that can easily reach trilogy status.
Unfortunately, it is difficult to know if the movie will find any success at the box office. The last time that Stallone and Statham partnered for a movie was The Expendables 4, which may have killed the Expendables franchise after becoming a box office bomb. It was released on September 22 during the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, and so they were completely unable to properly market the movie. Levon’s Trade will be a more accurate gauge of Stallone and Statham’s draw, and Ayer could also easily make a difference.
