Renowned Icelandic director Baltasar Kormákur is lining up a new action thriller starring Jason Statham, with filming set to be split between the UK and Iceland.
The as-yet-untitled film is from Black Bear, Statham’s Punch Palace Productions, Stampede Ventures and Kormákur’s RVK Studios.
Kormákur directs from a screenplay by Ward Perry, about Statham’s character Mason who lives in isolation on a remote Scottish island. When he rescues a young girl from the ocean in a terrible storm, he sets a chain of events in motion that brings a violent attack to his hideaway, forcing him back into the world to confront the ghosts of his past.
Filming will commence in November in the UK and Iceland with production services and filming to take place at Kormákur’s RVK Studios facility in Reykjavik. The producers are Statham for Punch Palace Productions, Kormákur for RVK Studios, John Friedberg for Black Bear and Jon Berg and Greg Silverman for Stampede Ventures, who developed the film.
Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler will serve as executive producers for Black Bear.
Statham is currently filming Levon’s Trade at a UK studio before he moves on to shooting Mutiny in September, reportedly also in the UK.
