The British action star Jason Statham will play the lead in a new action thriller directed by Icelandic director Baltasar Kormákur. No name has been given for the movie yet, but it is produced by Black Bear.
The film will be introduced to buyers this week at the Cannes Film Festival.
Deadline reports that the film will be shot both in the UK and the studio of RVK Studios in Reykjavík. The filming is expected to begin in November this year. Ward Parry writes the screenplay for the film.
According to Deadline Statham will play the character Mason who lives in isolation on a remote island of Scotland. His life is upended when he rescues a girl from the ocean in a terrible storm which brings on the unforeseen chain of events forcing him to confront his past.
Statham and Baltasar are both titled producers of the film along with other experienced film producers.
