For fans of action films, names like David Ayer, Jason Statham, and Sylvester Stallone are enough to get you excited. And when you combine all three, as is the case in the upcoming film, “Levon’s Trade,” people are going to expect the possibility of something special. So, action film fans, it’s time to let your anticipation build.
According to Deadline, one of the biggest projects to be shopped around at this year’s American Film Market (AFM) is “Levon’s Trade,” an upcoming action film directed by David Ayer. The film is expected to star Jason Statham and is based on the series of novels about Levon Cade by author Chuck Dixon. The film tells the story of Levon Cade, a man who is trying to change his life and leave behind his mysterious past in hopes of raising his daughter right. However, when his new construction site boss’ daughter is kidnapped, Levon has to use his particular set of skills (yes, he was former Black Ops and whatnot) to get her back. Unfortunately, that doesn’t sound like the most inspired premise for an action film in 2023, but the names associated make it a little exciting, right?
In addition to Ayer directing and Statham starring in the lead role, Sylvester Stallone is attached as a writer for the film. Stallone is no stranger to being a scriptwriter, having written quite a few huge films over the years. His most recent script was “Rambo: Last Blood” in 2019. But this is a guy who is a legendary action film icon, so you have to assume he can craft a decent script.
As mentioned, the Levon Cade character has appeared in numerous books, so it would appear that if “Levon’s Trade” is able to be a hit, then we could see Statham return for multiple movies. The film is currently being shopped around at AFM and is looking for studio backing and distribution. Ayer and Co. are hoping to begin filming next March.
