Jordan Poole, who left the Warriors, shares a major ambition.

While there is so much conversation surrounding the evolution of Jordan Poole’s game that is likely to come in this new opportunity with the Washington Wizards, Poole also has a unique opportunity to grow as a leader that he didn’t quite have with the Golden State Warriors. Speaking with The Ringer’s Logan Murdock, Poole revealed that leadership and growing into the face of the Wizards is the next big goal for him.

“I feel like I personally am the right person,” Poole said of his ability to lead Washington’s franchise. “In terms of personality, authenticity, positive energy, God-fearing, right? These are the things that you need to get a city behind you. I’m also invested, right? I’m here. I want to be here. I can get everybody else to want to be here. I want to see people come to the games. I want to interact with the fans. I want to interact with the youth.”

On a Warriors team with multiple Hall-of-Famers, Poole certainly did not have his own team the way he does now in Washington. Speaking on this new dynamic, Poole told Murdock, “Not a lot of people can get their own team at such a young age. And I learned at the highest level, now I can apply that. Really turn the city around and get something exciting.”

Exciting for this next step in his basketball journey, Poole is focused on being a leader.
