Yet another story about Michael Jordan’s legendary sports betting habits has emerged.
On his “Games With Names” podcast, former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman shed light on a hilarious interaction with the NBA legend ahead of Super Bowl 49 in 2015 against the Seattle Seahawks.
“The week before Super Bowl 2014, I took my folks to dinner, and I roll up, and I see Derek Jeter and Michael Jordan. I was super starstruck,” Edelman said during the episode. “I’m about to play in the Super Bowl, and I go up, and you can tell Jeter is a very charming guy, welcoming. ‘Mr. Jeter, Julian Edelman, I’m playing in the Super Bowl.’”
“I saw Jordan. He was kind of, like, standoffish a little bit. And as soon as the conversation’s about to end, like five minutes in, I’m about to leave, Jordan comes up to me. He goes, ‘Hey kid, I got a bunch of money on you. Don’t f–k it up.’ And that’s the only thing he said to me.”
Edelman and New England would come through for Jordan.
The Patriots beat the Seahawks 28-24, coming back from 10 points down to win the fourth Super Bowl of the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era.
Edelman himself played a great game, catching nine passes for 109 yards, including a touchdown with under two minutes left to win the game for New England, presumably helping the basketball GOAT to a massive payout.
