Lakers Champion’s Assertion Regarding Warriors Grabs Attention

While Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green are the pillars of the Golden State Warriors’ dynasty, there are some unsung heroes who have helped keep it together over the years. One of those players is Kevon Looney, the steady big man who has been adaptable and dependable since being drafted by the Warriors in 2015.

During a recent interview with Mark Medina of Sportskeeda, Los Angeles Lakers champion Mychal Thompson, who is also the father of Warriors guard Klay Thompson, made the bold statement that Looney should never wear another uniform.

“It makes sense,” Thompson said when asked if his son will retire with the Warriors. “For [Klay], Draymond, and Steph should never wear another uniform. Or should never have to wear another uniform. That also goes for Kevon Looney, too. That boy is a Warrior through and through. He needs to retire as a Warrior after another 10 or 12 more years, too.”

While this isn’t much of a bold take for Warriors fans and those who have followed this team closely since Looney’s arrival, some may be surprised to see his name included alongside Golden State’s big three. While Looney doesn’t have the accolades and individual stardom of his teammates, he has always been available, productive, and exactly what the Warriors have needed from his role. For this reason, Mychal Thompson believes he should be right there with Steph, Klay, and Draymond as a Warrior for life.
