Maya Jama surprised her followers by sharing a photo of her brother, who bears a striking resemblance to her, during a getaway to Ibiza. The presenter of Love Island took to Instagram to post an image of her sibling Omar rubbing shoulders with none other than Hollywood A-lister Jason Statham at a party.
Maya, who has been at the helm of the popular ITV2 dating show since the previous year, celebrated her 30th birthday last week with a family vacation away from Britain. In the snapshot, Omar is seen posing next to the 57-year-old star of The Expendables, donning a vintage Ralph Lauren shirt and cap, while playfully pointing his fist towards the camera.
Meanwhile, Jason Statham looked effortlessly cool in a white t-shirt and sunglasses. Maya marked her birthday with panache, indulging in a sumptuous dinner with her nearest and dearest at London’s Belvedere Restaurant. She was surrounded by celebrity friends, including Rizzle Kicks’ Jordan Stephens and Big Brother presenter AJ Odudu.
For the occasion, Maya shone in a chic short black dress paired with heels. Last month, the television personality left her fans disappointed when she revealed that she and rapper Stormzy had decided to part ways once again. The couple had rekindled their relationship the previous year after initially splitting in 2019, but it seems it wasn’t meant to last.
In a candid message to her fans, Maya shared: “We tried, and it didn’t work, and that’s okay. We’ve been laughing whilst drafting this because we never, ever, in a million years thought we’d be the couple announcing a breakup.”
She continued: “But for the sake of clarity and, more importantly, to allow us the space and grace that’s needed for us both to be able to navigate this next bit of our lives with peace, we thought it might be best to.”
Despite maintaining a private stance on their relationship, the couple was frequently seen displaying affection at various public happenings. Their final public outing together was witnessed at the British Grand Prix on July 5, shortly before they announced their separation, reported the Mirror.
Maya and Stormzy have historically shared peeks into their romance through social media, which included loving posts and words of encouragement. On Valentine’s Day earlier in the year, Stormzy delighted followers with an amusing TikTok video featuring Maya as they engaged in the trending ’14 Questions You Should Ask’.
In this light-hearted session, they responded to queries about who is more probable to engage in different behaviours, and within his post’s caption, Stormzy professed his feelings for Maya, penning, “Mi amor I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine’s Day.”
