The White Marlin Open is just a few days away from kicking off, and the boat of one of its most famous participants has registered to compete in the 2024.
Catch 23, the boat owned by NBA legend Michael Jordan, is listed as a registered entrant on the White Marlin Open website. Jordan and his boat have become a mainstay at the Ocean City tournament in recent years, as well as other fishing tournaments around the country. And there is always a buzz on the shore when “His Airness” is set to arrive in Ocean City.
Jordan and his Catch 23 team first began competing in the White Marlin Open in 2019, and in 2021, one of the anglers, Trey McMillan, caught a 23.5-pound mahi that was worth $20,000. Earlier this year, Jordan debuted a new Catch 23 boat, and the Catch 23 team also won the Abaco Shootout Fishing Tournament in the Bahamas.
The 2024 White Marlin Open is set to take place from Aug. 5-9, and fans can follow along for live coverage, updates and photo galleries from the scales at Harbour Island Marina every day here at Delmarva Now.
