Robert Horry is the only modern NBA player to win more championships than Michael Jordan. However, this only earned him one interaction with the Chicago Bulls legend. Surprisingly, Michael Jordan reached out to Horry to ask for help, only to never talk to the Houston Rockets star ever again.
Robert Horry was drafted by the Houston Rockets in 1992. He spent the first 4 years of his career with the team. So, this made him the right person for Jordan to call, as he was coming to town.
“Michael Jordan called me one time… This is way way way back. He was like, ‘You know, I’m coming to Houston. I want to know a good spot to go eat and hang out. You know, just a chill spot.’ I told him the spot, and I slid in there to see if he was in there, and he was actually in there. And I was like, Oh, he took my suggestion. And of course, I never heard from him again,” said the 7x champion during a recent episode of the Big Shot Bob podcast.
In typical Michael Jordan fashion, he never talked to Horry after that. Since Horry was young at the time, Jordan knew it was right to call him to ask for great hangout spots in the city. And Jordan even listened to the young star’s suggestion. But this didn’t lead to a fruitful relationship between the two.
However, Horry might have kept this in mind, as he has used his own stats against Michael Jordan to say that he was better.
Robert Horry once placed himself above Michael Jordan
Along with having more championships than Jordan, Horry once found out that he had fewer losses than Michael Jordan in the finals. Horry said, “I saw this stat of me and Jordan the other day. And I was looking at it like, damn, I didn’t even realize this. I lost only like ten games in the final, and he lost 14. I am like, I am better than Jordan.”
Obviously, Horry was joking, as he has always shown love and respect for Michael Jordan. Horry has even stated that Michael Jordan is the best player ever, according to him.
